of the global population
Through retreats and training, we help families who are weary and lonely find encouragement and community for the journey ahead.
Guidelight Retreats are designed to provide deep spiritual refreshment in a relaxing and intimate environment. We partner with local churches and like-minded organizations to provide an impactful and life-giving time for families with childhood disability. Retreats are three days/nights and include children’s programming, family outings, one-on-one volunteer care of each child with special needs, and a guest speaker focusing on biblical encouragement through the lens of disability.
Guidelight training draws on the latest research-based techniques and our team’s extensive experience in serving people with varying disabilities, with a foundation rooted deeply in Christ. Our free training video series is designed to help people serve those with special needs and learn what the Bible says about disability.
Guidelight seeks to equip indigenous peoples, churches, and missionaries for effective work among those with disabilities in their communities—both orphans and families. We provide a biblical framework for disability and practical training to empower others to serve their disabled population more effectively. We currently have programming in Eastern Europe and are developing in Southeast Asia.
Guidelight Connect is a space for leaders to gather together, encourage one another, and share joys and struggles as we strive to more faithfully reach out to those living with disability. Our prayer is that as we connect, the Body of Christ will be built up in love as each unique member is valued, cherished, and using their God-given gifts for the health of Christ’s church and the glory of God. All are welcome and all are needed.
Our mission is to bring about Christ-centered transformation in the lives of those impacted by disability. The need is massive. But together, we can make a difference. Join us to bring hope and help to individuals and families affected by disability around the world.
Guidelight brings…encouragement, hope, purpose, and strength through God’s Word. My family has personally experienced this…during some of the darkest seasons of living with disability.”

A Brief History
Since the founding of Guidelight in 2005 (previously The Elisha Foundation), the ministry has grown from a single, small family retreat serving five families with just 4 volunteers to regular retreats serving ten families at a time with 20+ volunteers. Our volunteers average 7,000 hours of service with Guidelight, annually. We’ve advanced from family retreats to training on disability and international programs.
Throughout the life of Guidelight, we’ve steadily expanded our work overseas driven by the dire needs of those affected by disability globally. We endeavor to strategically provide training and outreach in cross-cultural contexts where disability related resources are scarce and stigma marks those impacted by disability.
Pursuing Christ-centered transformation in the lives of people affected by disability is our core Mission.
